Undressing Consent: A Pleasurable Approach to Learning about Consent, Rejection & Sexual Violence

"Undressing Consent: A Pleasurable Approach to Learning About Consent, Rejection, and Sexual Violence” is an interactive skill-building Zoom session, held in small groups of either men or women/ non-binary individuals, and led by trainers from Anova and the Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children. It looks to dive deeper into the skills and behaviours surrounding consent, sexual violence, sexuality, and its impact on our community.

You will be able to choose a timeslot that works for you.

It will be 90 mins long.

You will need to have your camera on and come ready to participate.

Outcomes of this training are focused on:

  • Enhancing consent communication—verbal and nonverbal approaches
  • Understanding the full spectrum of what constitutes sexual violence and where we may confront areas that are not as clear as we may believe
  • Unpacking sexual scripts and their influence on our expectationsand behaviours
  • Reflecting on sexual desires outside of these normative scripts
  • Normalizing and de-personalizing rejection

Expectations:

  • You will be asked to have your camera on for this training on zoom. As much as is possible please ensure you are in a private space. If this is not feasible, please ensure you are using headphones.
  • This is an interactive session. Please come ready to participate. We will not be lecturing content.
  • You may experience some discomfort during this training because we will be discussing issues that are rooted in our beliefs and values, as well as topics that frequently go unspoken or are considered quite private in nature. Discomfort is not the same as being triggered. You can, of course, leave the Zoom session- please send a private message to the facilitator letting them know- and if you are triggered, support will be available.
  • You will not be required to share anything you do not want to share.
  • There will be people in the room with varying levels of experience and knowledge, and everyone can benefit from the training content.
  • While the goal is to address sexual violence, parts of this training will look at factors that lead to violence and how to prevent it. These will sometimes have a lighter tone, but they are still serious and important preventative skills.
  • This training will be a full 90-minute session.
  • Attendance will be taken and validated for completion at the end of the training session.
