Presentation: Holly and Deborah will present findings from a project that surveyed women survivors, service providers, and police about women’s experiences of the mandatory charging policy in Ontario. The researchers partnered with VAW coordinating committees (VAWCCs) working to address violence against women across Ontario through the Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW) and with coordination from the Building a Bigger Wave Ontario Network to develop a survey and recruit participants. The public report is available by contacting Deborah at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dr. Holly Johnson's primary research interests are criminal justice and social responses to sexual violence, intimate partner violence and partner homicide. She is involved in many national and international networks aimed at refining research tools, preventing violence against women, and improving interventions and responses to these crimes.
Dr. Deborah E. Conners is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Ottawa conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Holly Johnson which focuses on surveying abused women, police and service providers regarding the benefits and impacts of mandatory charging policies.
