During this session, Vicky Smallman, Canadian Labour Congress and Barb MacQuarrie, Centre for Research & Education on Violence against Women & Children will discuss findings from the survey including:

  • The prevalence of domestic violence in Canadian workplaces - How domestic violence is impacting workers' attendance and performance
  • How often workers are disclosing domestic violence in the workplace and who they are disclosing to
  • Whether workers are being being supported when they disclose domestic violence in the workplace
  • Workers' responses to measures that could provide support and safety in the workplace

This webinar will be presented by Barb MacQuarrie, the Community Director of the Centre for Research and Education on Violence against Women & Children in the Faculty of Education at the Western University. Barb develops and promotes evidence based education and prevention initiatives involving both community-based and university-based partners. She coordinated the first national Canadian study on the impacts of domestic violence on workers and the workplace and she holds a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant to study the impact of violence on workers and the workplace internationally. Barb is a recipient of the Order of Ontario, the province’s highest official honour, recognizing individual excellence and achievement.
